Staying Well

There is a strange “bug” going around and I am, as usual, trying to stay ahead of it.

Side note:  Are you moms like me?  Do you forget to treat yourself whenever you are treating the rest of the family?  I invariably do, so I often get a touch of whatever is passing through.  Never lasts long, though, because I slam those buggers with my own protocol.

Also,  when I am coming down with something “fluish”, it’s like I get all woozy and can’t think straight enough to treat myself.  I purpose to make out a “First-aid for Colds and Flu” check list to tape inside my herb cupboard.  Maybe even put a copy on the medicine cabinet.

When anyone in the family comes to me saying they don’t feel well, I automatically mentally run down a list of how to treat them.

  • For sore throats I administer a teaspoon of straight Garlic tincture or Super Tonic.
  • For that prickly feeling in the nose that means there will be a sniffles soon, I swab Zicam nasal gel into each nostril.  That works if you do it in time but even if you don’t, it seems to cut the cold drastically.
  • For that achy, I-am-going-to-hit-the-wall feeling, I/we take a tablespoon of garlic tincture or Super Tonic and then soak in the hottest bath I/we can stand (creates a pseudo-fever).  We then head to bed if it is night or to the chair and watch videos with the children if it is daytime.

The key is to catch it as soon as possible.
